June is National Safety Month, an initiative led by the National Safety Council (NSC) to spotlight critical safety topics across the country. Each week of June focuses on a different aspect of safety, and this week’s theme is Roadway Safety.
Whether our crews are traveling to and from job sites or operating company vehicles as part of their responsibilities, safe driving practices are a critical part of our safety culture.
To support this initiative, we’ve implemented Defensive Driver Training for all employees operating vehicles. This training equips our teams with tools to:
- Anticipate and respond to potential roadway hazards
- Avoid common driving risks like distracted or fatigued driving
- Practice safe speed and distance management
- Maintain heightened situational awareness in all traffic conditions
By integrating this training into our company operations, we’re reinforcing the importance of responsible driving at every level of the organization.
According to the NSC, motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of workplace deaths in the United States. Many of these incidents are preventable. Through proactive strategies like defensive driving, we can drastically reduce the risk of accidents. We’re proud to be part of a nationwide effort to reduce roadway incidents and protect not only our people, but also the public and surrounding communities.
