WCS ISO 45001 Certification

ISO 45001

At Evers and Sons Inc., we prioritize the well-being of our employees and strive for excellence in safety management. That's why we are proud to hold the ISO 45001 certification, which is an internationally recognized standard for Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) management systems.

This certification underscores our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for everyone involved in our operations. ISO 45001 sets forth a systematic approach to verifying the management of occupational health and safety, emphasizing hazard identification, risk assessment, and the implementation of proactive controls.

It provides a framework that enables organizations to manage the establishment, implementation, and continuously improve their OH&S management system, aligning with legal and regulatory requirements.

Achieving ISO 45001 certification demonstrates our dedication to:

Mitigating Risks

The certification ensures that we have robust processes in place to identify and assess potential hazards in our work environment. By proactively managing these risks, we can implement effective controls, thereby minimizing the likelihood of incidents or accidents.

Employee Well-being

ISO 45001 ensures a safe working environment for our team members, free from hazards and risks that could negatively impact their well-being. This commitment extends to all personnel, including subcontractors, visitors, and others who may interact with our operations.

Legal Compliance

ISO 45001 keeps us up to date with applicable OH&S laws, regulations, and other requirements. By adhering to these legal obligations, we maintain compliance and mitigate potential legal risks while fostering a culture of accountability and responsibility.

Continuous Improvement

ISO 45001 promotes a culture of continuous improvement by establishing processes for monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing our OH&S performance. By regularly reviewing our safety practices and learning from incidents, near misses, and feedback from our employees, we can implement corrective actions and preventive measures to constantly enhance our safety standards.

Key Performance Indicators

We utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of our safety policies and procedures. Our KPIs are based on both leading and lagging indicators, allowing our Safety Department to thoroughly review, monitor, and identify any unsafe trends that may require additional training or policy adjustments.

Leading Indicators

Risk Observation Cards (ROCs)
- To report safe and unsafe acts, we provide individual work personnel with Risk Observation Cards (ROCs). The HSE Department meticulously reviews all ROCs and determines if further training and/or procedure revisions are necessary.

Daily Site Safety Reviews
- By employing a dedicated platform for our daily site safety reviews, we generate monthly reports that provide our management team with valuable analytics. These reports help identify trending areas that require immediate attention to prevent potential incidents.

Lagging Indicators

Near Miss Report
- In situations where there is an occurrence on-site that could have led to injury or property damage, we complete Near Miss Reports. These reports are investigated in the same manner as actual incident reports, and the root cause is identified to prevent any recurring patterns.

Incident Report
- Although we strive to ensure a safe work environment for all employees, incidents can still occur. When incidents happen, they receive immediate attention. Incident reports are thoroughly investigated to gain a comprehensive understanding of the causes. Incidents meeting specific criteria undergo a full Root Cause Analysis Investigation. The management team decides on appropriate Corrective Actions, if necessary, and initiates the implementation process.

Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)
- TRIR is calculated by multiplying the number of incidents by 200,000 and dividing the result by the total number of manhours worked in a year. This metric helps us gauge and track our safety performance over time.

Safety Training Programs

At Evers and Sons Inc., we believe in the power of education as a key tool in maintaining safety standards. We offer comprehensive in-house training programs to ensure our staff is equipped with the best safety skills in the industry. Our programs include SafeLandUSA, H2S Clear, and Basin United Certification, all taught by our dedicated Safety Trainers.

In addition, we prioritize flexible learning to cater to our employees' varying schedules. Through our mobile-friendly Learning Management System (LMS) SafetyPlus, we provide individual training sessions. With access to a library of over 80 safety training resources including instructional videos and corresponding tests, our employees can learn at their own pace, anytime, anywhere.

Safety Equipment and Technology

Our commitment to safety is further showcased in our utilization of the HSE Management System, powered by Safety Culture. This system forms the foundation of our health, safety, and environmental (HSE) goals and objectives. It enables us to gather, analyze, and share HSE data such as daily audits, environmental audits, incident reports, and ROCs in a seamless manner. Safety Culture also allows us real-time access to analytical data, ensuring we stay updated and proactive in our safety management.

Emergency Response Procedures

At Evers and Sons Inc., we understand the importance of preparedness. Therefore, we establish a site- specific Emergency Response Plan to effectively deal with any emergencies. This plan is implemented immediately in case of severe weather, fires, explosions, or releases of hazardous substances threatening human health or the environment. Our procedures are comprehensive and include: alarm-based staff evacuation, emergency services notification, predetermined evacuation routes, assembly at designated areas, and confirmation of full site evacuation.

We ensure all staff members are familiar with these procedures through new employee orientation, site-specific orientation, and annual training. In the event of an accident or incident, immediate reports are made to our on-site safety representative, who then takes the necessary steps to notify the HSE Director and Evers and Sons Inc. management.

Industry Partnerships

Our commitment to staying informed about the latest industry standards and regulations sees our safety team regularly attending ASSP Conferences and OSHA outreach training. In addition, we collaborate with various compliance websites such as Veriforce, ISN, Avetta, and JJ Keller to ensure we are always up-to-date with the latest safety requirements and best practices in the oil and gas construction industry.

Damage Prevention Procedures

Our operations are deeply rooted in a steadfast commitment to damage prevention. Prior to initiating any excavation activities, we undertake comprehensive assessments to guarantee the exact identification of all underground utilities and installations. This includes locating a diverse range of underground infrastructure, such as sewer, telephone, fuel, electric, and water lines, among others. This meticulous evaluation process is devised with the primary objective of ensuring the safety of our team, and preserving the structural integrity of the utilities we might encounter.

The first stage of our assessment process is the activation of an 811 locate ticket, a crucial measure that lays the foundation for a safe and well-orchestrated excavation strategy. However, our dedication to safety extends well beyond this initial stage. In anticipation of breaking ground, we utilize cutting-edge tools such as Metrotech locators and ground penetrating radar. These sophisticated technologies, coupled with our thorough visual inspections, offer an in-depth understanding of the underground environment.

In the event that utility companies or owners are unable to identify their installations, we suspend operations and employ stringent safety measures, including hydrovac technology, until every utility is precisely marked. This approach underscores our commitment to damage prevention, safety, and the integrity of underground installations, emphasizing our prevention-first policy.

Once the precise locations of all utilities are confirmed, we proceed with utmost care and precision. We employ best practices and leverage state-of-the-art tools to ensure our operations are carried out safely and efficiently, thereby maintaining the integrity of the utilities and the safety of our team at all times.

Our prevention procedures are not merely a set of guidelines, but rather the bedrock of our operations. They illustrate our serious and committed approach to preserving the safety and integrity of underground installations, emphasizing the importance we place on prevention over correction.
