Brownfield Facility Expansion – LO-CAT® Trains and Gas Treating System

LOUISIANA

Project Overview

Evers & Sons Inc. partnered with the client to expand an existing brownfield treating facility with new equipment supporting the operation of three (3) sulfur recovery units (LO-CAT trains) and a shared chemical storage area. In addition to the LO-CAT train systems, Evers & Sons was also responsible for the installation of all gas treating and ancillary equipment required to enhance overall plant performance.

LO-CAT Train & Chemical Storage – Key Equipment (Per Train):

  • (1) Inlet Gas Knockout Pot
  • (2) Liquid Full Absorbers (LFA)
  • (2) LFA Recirculation Pumps (w/ Pump Seal Pots)
  • (1) Treated Gas Knockout Pot
  • (1) Treated Gas Knockout Pump (w/ Pump Seal Pot)
  • (1) Oxidizer
  • (2) Absorber Feed Pumps (w/ Pump Seal Pots)
  • (2) Overspray Pumps (w/ Pump Seal Pots)
  • (1) Solution Heater
  • (2) Process Air Blowers
  • (1) Pressure Filter
  • (1) Filter Box
  • (2) Filtrate Return Pumps (w/ Pump Seal Pots)
  • (3) Chemical Storage Tanks
  • (3) Chemical Pumps
  • (1) Biocide Tank with Pump
  • (1) Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) Storage Tank with Pump

Balance of Plant (BOP) Treating & Compression – Key Equipment:

  • (1) Acid Gas Screw Compressor Package (VRA 836M)
  • (1) Discharge Silencer
  • (1) Lube Oil Skid
  • (1) Lube Oil Cooler
  • (1) Seal Water Skid
  • (1) Acid Gas Aftercooler
  • (1) Injection Water Surge Vessel
  • (2) Injection Water Pumps
  • (1) LP Flare with KO Drum and Pumps
  • (2) CO2 Vent Scrubber Pumps
  • (2) Treated Water Pumps
  • (2) Glycol Heaters
  • (2) Glycol Circulation Pumps
  • (1) Fuel Gas Meter
  • (1) Fuel Gas Scrubber
  • (1) H2S Scavenger Injection System
  • (1) H2S Scavenger Tote
  • (2) H2S Scavenger Pumps

Scope of Work:

  • Concrete and structural installation for mechanical and electrical foundations
  • Pre-fabrication of pipe spools and structural packages
  • Field installation and pressure testing of all process piping
  • Equipment setting, including grouting of all rotating equipment
  • Scaffolding, coating, and insulation/jacketing

This project is designed to remove H₂S from acid gas produced by the existing amine regeneration still prior to atmospheric venting. The scope also included full balance-of-plant treating and compression installation, supporting long-term system reliability and environmental compliance.
